Surströmming Party at Sturehof
On Thursday, August 20, you are invited to our annual Surströmming Party! Surströmming (fermented fish) is famous for its distinctive aroma and flavor, but also for the sense of community and tradition that surrounds a surströmming gathering. At Sturehof, you will have the opportunity to experience this classic Swedish delicacy in the traditional way, served with customary accompaniments and carefully selected beverages.
The celebration begins at 12:00 PM when a surströmming stand opens outside the restaurant. Passersby can purchase a classic surströmming sandwich on thin flatbread, served with sour cream, red onion, and potatoes, for SEK 95. This is the perfect opportunity for anyone curious to try this unique delicacy.
From 3:00 PM, the festivities continue on our outdoor terrace. Look forward to an afternoon filled with traditional food, schnapps songs, and accordion music in true surströmming spirit. The menu features surströmming served with sour cream, red onion, chives, spiced cheese, Västerbotten cheese, soft and crisp flatbread, and almond potatoes. For dessert, we will serve cloudberries with caramel, cloudberry ice cream, and meringue.
The surströmming-menu that are serverd on out outdoor seating area is priced at SEK 595 per person, and table reservations are required.

Of course, this pairs well with beer and schnapps. We highly recommend a sweeter variety of schnapps, as it complements the flavourful fish perfectly.
